Advantage Business Angels has built a reputation for integrity and success in securing equity finance for companies. Since 2003 we have helped UK businesses at all stages, and in all sectors, to grow and succeed; including rescue and recovery situations.
We offer a personal, professional service designed to find the right investors for your business using the marketing process you are most comfortable with.
You may be comfortable pitching to a group of investors. We do not simply sit you down in a room and send in unknown “investors”: all our pitches are attended only by investors who are paid up members of our syndicates and who are looking to build a portfolio of investments.
For those who prefer us to find individuals and arrange one to one meetings all our investors, both those based in the UK and overseas, are known to us and our marketing ensures your anonymity until we have vetted responders.
Typically our companies apply for between £50,000 and £500,000 of investment but we are flexible: our largest single fundraising to date is £1.2m and our smallest is just £20,000.

Giving you specialised and intensive help and guidance
Advantages Business Angels provides specialised and intensive help and guidance to the companies we work with. With us, your company will not just be one of a list of names on a website. Nor do we take a “scatter gun” approach to finding funding – unlike some of the competition.
Instead we offer you a Director-led service, whether you are looking for full fundraising or working capital financing. It’s the best way we know to help your company reach its business goals.
A reputation for high growth, high-quality investment opportunities
Our investors are mainly interested in companies with high growth potential. And they only expect to see high-quality investment opportunities at our pitch events.
This means we have to be pretty tough with our selection. For every 1000 application forms we receive, we usually only select 100 to go forward to the next stage of the funding process.
What we will ask from you
To begin with, we just expect you to be:
- A UK-registered company
- Looking for between £50 000 and £500,000 of funding (although we can be flexible)

Syndicate Funding Power & Investor Relationships
Business angels who like to invest with others have paid a fee to become a member of one of our syndicates and are actively looking to make investments.
We use extensive telephone and email contact to build more effective relationships with those business angel investors who prefer to work individually or who are based overseas in tax havens.
Our Approach To Making Investments
We provide a Director-led service whether it is full Fundraising or Working Capital financing. You are not just listed on a website; nor are you one of many companies taken on using a “scatter gun” approach.
We work with a small number of companies at any one time bringing an intensive effort to help you get the funding your want. At our investor presentations we only ever bring a maximum of two companies – improving your chances of raising the funds you need. Our principles are set out below.
Our Track Record
We are open about our track record. Like many other companies we have a selection of success stories (see our portfolio section) but that only gives you part of the picture.
The key question most people ask is: what are my chances of raising the money I need?
So what is our success rate?
Our success rate is one in three: we found money for one third of the assignments we have ever worked on. From 2003 to 2006 it averaged one in three; during the boom years of 2007 and 2008 it improved to one in two; since the “credit crunch” hit in 2009 it is just under one in four.
Since we launched in April 2003 we have taken on 467 fund raising assignments and secured £23.5m in 160 transactions.
